Mushroom Sauce

This sauce is quick and easy to make and is fantastic when poured over a nice juicy steak.
Ingredients
- 250g Mushrooms (cremini or chestnut are best but simple button mushrooms are fine)
- 3 tablespoons Butter
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 Chicken Stock Cube
- 300ml Double Cream
- 1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
Preparation
- Wipe the mushrooms with kitchen towel and slice them thinly
- Peel and mince the garlic cloves (or finely chop them)
- Make the chicken stock by dissolving the stock cube into 250ml of boiling water
Method
- Melt the butter in a frying pan over a high hear (don’t burn it)
- Turn the heat down to medium, stir in the sliced mushrooms and garlic and cook for about 4 minutes until the mushrooms are browned
- Stir in the chicken stock, the mustard, Worcestershire sauce
- Add the salt and pepper and stir well
- Cook for about 7 minutes stirring occasionally
- Taste the sauce and add more salt and/or pepper to taste
- Enjoy the sauce poured over a juicy steak
