Copycat KFC Gravy

This one took some working out as I couldn’t figure out the “smoothness” factor. However, a bit of research later and it turned out the missing ingredient was sage! Enjoy…
Ingredients
- 2 Beef Stock Cubes
- 475ml of Boiling Water.
- 4 Tablespoons of Butter
- 5 Tablespoons of Plain Flour
- ¼ Teaspoon of Garlic Powder
- ¼ Teaspoon of Black Pepper
- ½ Teaspoon of Dried Sage
Method
- Dissolve the beef stock cubes in a jug with the boiling water.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over a low heat – keep an eye on it so you don’t burn it.
- When the butter is melted slowly add the flour stirring it all time for about two minutes until you have a golden, thick paste.
- Slowly pour the hot beef stick in and make sure you stir it constantly until it’s all mixed with the paste.
- Turn the heat up (medium is best) and keep stirring until it looks nice and creamy.
- Add the black pepper, garlic and sage.
- Give it all a good stir and test for seasoning (you may want to add a little salt).
- Serve in dipping pots, lathered over mashed potatoes, or eat out of the pan with a spoon and some soft buttered bread!
